Guitar and Dobro/Resophonic guitar player Jeremy Sicely, is a native Vermonter, and front man of the award-winning Bluegrass band “Beg, Steal or Borrow.”  In this special concert, Jeremy will be invite a band of great local players to feature music from his most recent solo release, Buck Fever.

Band members include:

Colin McCaffrey, Andrew Stearns, Eric O'Hara, Rudy Dauth, Patti Casey 

J.D. Miller will be opening the show. 

Simon Brooks

Since 1991, British storyteller, humorist and author Simon Brooks has been telling to audiences from all over the world. Simon became a full-time, professional storyteller in 2003, released his first CD in 2006, and his first collection of folk and fairy tales in 2018. Simon has won awards and honors for his storytelling albums from Storytelling World and Parent's Choice. Simon travels all over New England and to other parts of the USA, and has told his tales in Europe.

The Midnight Capers

Over the past four years, the Montpelier-based Morris Dance side, The Midnight Capers, have become an essential element of the 12th Night Celebration. The Midnight Capers elegant, boisterous and exciting English traditional folk dancing is accompanied by tremendous musicianship. The sprit with which they dance taps into the ancient pre-Christian tradition of banishing the dark of winter, and celebrating the warmth and fertility of the approaching Spring.

Early Afternoon Program 12-2pm

From Randolph, puppeteers Dan Baginski and Barbara Paulson's traveling stage transforms any space into an intimate theater, where the seamless blend of movement, music and masterful manipulation captivates young and old alike. These Vermont artisans lovingly hand craft the marionettes, props and scenery, whether for an original tale or an adaptation of a classic. Shows begin with an interactive song featuring audience members, and finish with demonstrations sparked by the audiences' curious questions.

Spiritual Sounding: Woodland Echoes

Cabot United Church (Sanctuary) Saturday, Jan. 6th 2:30pm

Spiritual Soundings are ambient-style music played on acoustic instruments which helps to facilitate a deep meditative experience connecting listeners to one another and all consciousness. Evan Premo will be joined by storyteller, and Native flutist Michael Laughing Fox Charette who is member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.  Laughing Fox will begin the sounding with the creation story of the flute which will morph into an extended musical meditation.

Arts and Crafts Workshops for Kids

Cabot United Church (lower level) - Saturday, Jan. 6th 2:30pm

It has been tradition at 12th Night for kids and families to get together and decorate Paper Lanterns and construct Newfoundland Ugly Sticks for the Sunset Parade. This year we will introduce Noisemakers into the repertoire!

Amanda Otto, Janet Van-Fleet, and volunteers will help kids create  their own masterpieces! All supplies will be provided! That being said, if you have a favorite stick, an old broom, or fun bits and pieces hanging out in the junk drawer that need to be re-purposed, bring them along!

The 2024 Mummers Play!

Cabot Village Common - Saturday, Jan. 6th  4pm

A well-loved 12th Night tradition is the annual Mummers Play. Mummers' Plays are one of the oldest surviving features of the traditional English Christmas. Mumming in England goes back for over a thousand years. The plays are based loosely on the legend of St. George and the dragon. The plays are intended to show the struggle between good and evil, and also portrays the rebirth of the springtime after the dark of winter.

The Sunset Lantern Parade

Cabot Village Common - Saturday, Jan. 6th  4:15pm

The afternoon culminates in a parade around the Cabot Village Common. As the sun is setting,  kids and adults display the paper lanterns they've made and march to the beat of the jangling Newfoundland Ugly Sticks while musicians strike up a tune. The parade symbolizes the communities journey together around the sun for another year.

Wassail! Community Sing

The Den at Harry's Hardware - Saturday, Jan. 6th - 8:30pm

The final event of the 12th Night Celebration, The Wassail invites everyone to come sing traditional Wassail Songs. 

All 12th Night Events are Free!
