The Gravel Yard:

Big Grass Bluegrass Festival 2023 - Opening Thursday evening will be The Gravel Yard Bluegrass Band - The Award Winning Gravel Yard band known for bringing down the house.

The Gravel Yard formed modestly in an actual gravel lot deep in the Ozark Mountains of Stone County, Arkansas; fueled by moonlit jam sessions it was quickly evident that this group’s chemistry was something more.  Once a completely informal entity The Gravel Yard made their way onto the local bluegrass music scene wherein they began to amass a steady following and began to play to larger and larger venues.  Their sound can best be described as an eclectic amalgamation of hard driving traditional bluegrass and progressive musicality - juxtaposed with a soulful Country and Americana flavor.

The Cleverlys:

Our Closing Act for Thursday is The Cleverlys!

The Cleverlys are a one-of-a-kind comedy/music blend coming from the remote part of the Ozark Mountains, near Cane Spur, Arkansas.

Digger Cleverly, along with his nephews Ricky Lloyd, Sock, DVD and Cub, make up The Cleverlys. They have traveled the globe, if the globe only consisted of the United States, performing at music venues and some of the nation’s largest festivals like Stagecoach, Telluride, CMA Music Fest and even the Grand Ole Opry.

Tickets for Thursday night are $25 for reserved seating on the floor and $20 for balcony seating. The fun starts at 7:00 pm at the Collins Theatre in Downtown Paragould.

Friday July 21st, 2023

Kurt & Andrea Stephenson:

This husband / wife duo is going to be one you don't want to miss. Kurt is the banjo player for a hot and on the rise band, High Fidelity, who had several charted singles in the past year. Joining him is his wife Andrea who sings and plays guitar.  

East Nash Grass:

Our second act on Friday is East Nash Grass. An ensemble of standout players from a city known for the quality of its musicians, East Nash Grass came by its name and reputation honestly, honing their performance chops night after night on a tiny stage on Music City’s east side. Even now having played many of the biggest stages in bluegrass, East Nash Grass can still be found every Monday night performing in that same east side bar. Dedication to a group’s roots and a commitment to hard work are earmarks of great Nashville bands of all kinds, and East Nash Grass exemplifies what it means to be a bluegrass band from Nashville.

Volume Five:

Closing out the show on Friday is Volume Five. Volume Five, the Mississippi-based group that started as a casual jam band in 2008, has grown into one of bluegrass music's most popular and unique acts. The soulful lead vocals by fiddler Glen Harrell and the band's tight instrumentals and vocal harmony have earned the group two IBMA Awards, numerous nominations, and many accolades. The band is now on tour with the masterful talents of Glen Harrell on Fiddle & Vocals, Jacob Burleson on Guitar & Vocals, Aaron Ramsey on Mandolin and Vocals, Chris Wade on banjo, and Jacob Eller on bass.

Tickets for Friday night are $30 for reserved seats on the floor and $25 general admission in the balcony. The music starts at 7:00 pm at the Collins Theatre in Downtown Paragould.

The Baker Family:

Opening both shows on Saturday is The Baker Family.

The Baker Family is a high energy bluegrass band located in south central Missouri. We perform at bluegrass events throughout the United States from Maine to California. Some of their notable appearances have been:

Larry Stephenson Band:

Larry Stephenson learned how to play the mandolin as a young boy. At age 13, he recorded a 45 rpm single with his interpretation of the Osborne Brothers' Rocky Top" on one side and Jim & Jesse's "Somebody Loves You Darling" on the flip side.

Stephenson started touring with his father Ed Stephenson in the mid 1970s in Larry Stephenson & the New Grass. He also toured with Cliff Waldron and Leon Morris. Starting in 1979, he toured with Bill Harrell and the Virginians for more than four years. In 1983, he joined the Bluegrass Cardinals.

Stephenson formed The Larry Stephenson Band in 1989. Initially, Marc Keller played guitar, Doug Campbell played bass, and, Rick Allred played fiddle. The current lineup is Dereck Vaden (banjo), Nick Dauphinais (guitar), and Andrew Brown (bass).

Rhonda Vincent & The Rage:

Vincent's music career began when she was a child in her family's band The Sally Mountain Show, and it has spanned more than four decades. Vincent first achieved success in the bluegrass genre in the 1970s and '80s, earning the respect of her mostly male peers for her mastery of the progressive chord structures and multi-range, fast-paced vocals intrinsic to bluegrass music. Vincent is an in-demand guest vocalist for other bluegrass and country music performers, appearing on recordings by Dolly Parton, Alan Jackson, Tanya Tucker, Joe Diffie, Faith Hill and other notables.

Vincent is an eight-time Grammy nominee, winning the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2017. In 2020, she was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

For each show, tickets are $35 for reserved seats on the floor, $30 general admission tickets will be in the balcony. The fun starts at 1:00 PM & 6:00 PM at the Collins Theatre in Downtown Paragould.
