This June 14-16, 2024, the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCmap) Will Host Its Landmark 20th Annual International Queer Women of Color Film Festival (QWOCFF24) at the Beautifully Renovated Presidio Theatre in San Francisco’s Presidio National Park. Admission is Free, and the Festival Will Showcase 44 Films Across Five Screenings. Upholding Our Long-standing Commitment to Disability Justice, We Ensure Inclusivity With Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing, Audio Descriptions for the Blind and Low Vision, and Asl Interpretation at All Screenings. This Comprehensive Approach Ensures That All Attendees Can Fully Participate in and Appreciate the Cinematic Experience.

5:00pm - Panel-Unshakeable Legacy: Queer Women of Color Filmmakers

Unshakeable Legacy Explores the Steadfast Creativity and Commitment of Queer Women of Color Filmmakers. Moderated by QWOCmap’s Founder and Executive/artistic Director Madeleine Lim, This Panel Spotlights Mary Guzman, Melinda James, Tina Mabry, and Jennifer Phang, Filmmakers Who’ve Worked Across the Industry in Everything From Independent Films to Networks and Streamers, From New Queer Cinema, Music Videos, and Evening Drama to Superheroes and Sci Fi.

The Panel Dives Into the Past 20 Years, Mapping What Has or Has Not Changed as Well as Where the Needle Might Have Shifted. It Also Navigates a Vision of the Next 20 Years, Looking Beyond Representation and Inclusion to What Just and Compelling Filmmaking Can Be in Order to Create Change. Asking What We Want Our Legacies as Queer Women of Color Filmmakers to Be in This World, This Incisive Panel Promises to Spark Thought, Fire New Questions, and Incite Joy.

From the Exhilarating Buoyancy of New Relationships to Reminiscing on Love Lost, These Intimate Films Are an Expedition Across the Intricacies of Queer Relationships as We Discover Who We Are and Learn to Make Love a Deliberate Practice.

A Japanese Drum Master and Korean Adoptee From Minnesota Assemble the World’s Best Women Taiko Drummers, to Claim a Cultural Spotlight That Has Historically Been Off-limits to Women for Centuries. As the Troupe Prepares for a Historic Performance in Snowy St. Paul, They Navigate Differences in Culture, Age, Language, and Performing Styles in a Voyage of Music, Cultural Expression, and Sisterhood.
