The 12th annual “Fresh Works” juried exhibition is an open call to emerging and established artists who reside or work in the greater Bay Area. All works included in the exhibition will have been created in the last year, and artists are able to showcase their most recent innovations and practices. An incredible celebration of different artistic practices, Fresh Works aims to bring the community together through the common language of art. This mixed media group show will include approximately 80 works with a reception and awards ceremony

Juror Maria Naula

Maria Naula brings forth an extensive knowledge of art through her studies and experience in the arts industry. Most notably is her two-decade tenure at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) where she led the acquisitions process of thousands of objects for five collecting departments. She presently works as an art and artist consultant in the Bay Area, centered on the long-term care of objects and collections, and on the cultivation of exhibitions and artist portfolios. Her interest and support of emerging artists has brought her in as a curator at Four Chicken Gallery, an artist-run space in Bernal Heights engaged in the experimentation of ideas, installations, and materials, and as an active member of the SECA Committee at SFMOMA. Naula holds graduate degrees in Fine Art, Archeology, and Art History, with a concentration in Modern and Contemporary Art.
