Quilters from around the area and New York state will be converging on Fulton Montgomery Community College for the 10th Anniversary Empire QuiltFest, scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 27, 2024 from 9 am to 4 pm, and Sunday, Apr. 28, 2024 from 10 am to 4 pm.

The show will have over 300 quilts on display. Many of the quilts shown have been created by members of 5 local quilt guilds representing Columbia, Albany, Schenectady, Fulton, Saratoga and Schoharie counties. Quilters can choose whether to have their quilts judged, and ribbons are awarded in each category, and “Best of” ribbons are awarded to the top quilts. In addition to ribbon awards, “Best of New York” gift baskets are awarded to “Best of Show,” “New Entrant,” “Best Theme Quilt,” and a special “10th Anniversary” basket.

Quilting vendors will be on site with an enticing array of quilting supplies for sale—from gorgeous quilting fabrics and handy notions and tools, to state-of-the-art sewing machines and computerized longarm quilting systems. There will be something for every one whether you are an experienced quilter or just beginning your quilting journey. Make a day of it—the college cafeteria will be open, serving lunch and snacks.

Take a break from quilt viewing and shopping at one of the lectures, presented at 1:00 on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Debby Brown will talk about "Quilting Makes the Quilt," and on Sunday Kris Driessen will talk about "The Dating Game." The lectures are $15 each. Advance reservations are suggested.
