As one of only five common school districts that remain in Texas, Ramirez Common School District can be found nestled along the curve on the main highway that enters into the isolated , small community located about 18 miles south of Benavides in Duval County.

The area, which is approximately 18 square miles, is know as the “Bread Basket of Duval County” and was founded on land donated by the Rafael Ramirez descendants from the San Pedro del Charco Redondo land grant.

The original structure of the school was built in 1951 when Sejitai, Copita, Tienditas, Cruz Calle and Ramirez schools consolidated.

Today Ramirez CSD provides classes for 42 students attending PK though sixth grade.

Parents like the small class sizes, the safe environment and especially the one-on-one attention of their teachers. The school has up to date technology and provides computer labs in all class rooms and a library lab that is available at any time.

Summer school is held and provides enrichment in math and reading, and also offers Migrant Project Smart,
