Lafayette School Mentoring Project

The Lafayette School Mentoring Project is a one-to-one site based, after-school mentoring program in which volunteers work with elementary school students in both a mentoring and academic enrichment context. Volunteers generally come once a week M-Thursday for 1.5 hours. If volunteers choose to try and come more than once a week that is perfectly fine.  They work with students on homework, focusing this year on literacy and math based activities as well as spending time in a social context with the students such as playing board games, going outside to the park, amongst other activities we offer here at the school. Additionally, each month the volunteers and students take a field trip to a local attraction such as Crab Cove or the occasional sporting event at UC Berkeley one Saturday monthly.
