Clarksville - Johnson County Chamber of Commerce

101 North Johnson Street
479-754-2340

Johnson County, is located in a naturally beautiful area of the state of Arkansas and holds many opportunities. With the Ozark Mountains, Arkansas River, the University of the Ozarks, Interstate 40, and a diverse industrial and commercial base, we are ahead of most communities statewide.

Founded in 1833 and named after Territorial Judge, Benjamin Johnson, Johnson County covers an area of 700 square miles. Clarksville was named county seat in 1836. The County boasts a number of lakes and streams bordered by well-maintained parks, picnic areas and campsites. The lakes are excellent for fishing and water sports. The Northern Half of the county is located within the Ozark National Forest.

Activities such as canoeing and float trips are available and there are several scenic highways throughout the region. Tourism is a large attraction to our area with summers filled with festivals, fairs and shows. In July we celebrate the Peach Festival, the oldest  outdoor festival in the state of Arkansas. Be sure to see the Events Calendar for dates for all events.
