History :

Plattsburg, Missouri is situated ten (10) miles west of Interstate I-35. Plattsburg is a city of approximately 2,200. Just thirty-five (35) miles north of Kansas City, Missouri and twenty-four (24) miles south of St. Joseph, Missouri on U.S. Highway 169 and Missouri Highway 116. Plattsburg is conveniently located near the Kansas City International Airport. This location gives the area both a rural and suburban atmosphere.

The city government is composed of an elected mayor and city council. Plattsburg boasts health care facilities; law enforcement officers; a volunteer fire department; ambulance services; a public library; numerous civic organizations; churches; a large park with a shelter house, bandstand, ball fields, playground and soccer field. Over 140 businesses are located here.Since Plattsburg is the county seat for Clinton County, population-approximately 16,500, a modern courthouse is located on the city square.

The Smithville Reservoir's northern and longest arm extends to Perkins Park in Plattsburg. The district recreation enthusiasts may enjoy hunting, fishing, boating, sailing, baseball/softball, soccer, golf, bowling, swimming, picnicking and camping.The entire district offers new and older housing developments, historic old homes, several apartment complexes, as well as country homes and farms.
