January Storytimes

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. offers weekly storytimes for children. Storytimes meet at 10:30 am. On Mondays, Toddler Time meets for ages 0-2. On Tuesdays, Preschool Storytime meets for ages 3-5. Baby Lapsit meets on Thursdays for babies 0-18 months. Friday Fun offers stories and songs for ages 2-5. Storytimes begin Jan 8. (No storytime on Jan 15). Enjoy early literacy activities and meet other families at Library storytimes. Registration required. Book Scientists

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. will offer Book Scientist kits for children ages 3-12.  Each kit includes books and activities. Books are selected based on the age of the child participating. This month the theme is Favorite Illustrators (January 19). Return the Library books when they are due and keep everything else! Learn to Crochet

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. is offering beginner’s crochet lessons on Wednesday, January 10 at 6pm and Sunday, January 21 at 2:30pm. Junior Scientists Grab ‘n’ Go

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. will offer a Junior Scientists grab & go activity for children ages 4-7 with pick-ups starting on Thursday, January 11. Treehouse Science

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. will offer a Treehouse Science program for children ages 8-12 on Friday, January 12 at 3:30pm. Children ages 7-12 are welcome to join us for some fun with LEGO Meeperbots! (Parents may be asked to help at the program with their smartphones!) Snow Much Fun

Join the Stratford Library Children’s Dept. for some winter fun for ages 4-8 on Saturday, January 13 at 2:30 pm. We will read a story about snow, enjoy activity stations learning about snow, then we’ll end the program with a snowball fight! Coding Class

Join the Stratford Library Children’s Dept. for Kids Coding on Tuesday, January 16 at 4pm. Children ages 7-12 are welcome. Have some fun with computer and paper coding. Math Grab ’n’ Go Kit

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. will offer a Math Grab ‘n’ Go kit for children ages 6-9.  This month’s theme will be “telling time.” Each kit will come with informational lessons and activities about the topic. Preschool Academy

Join the Stratford Library Children’s Dept. for the Preschool Academy monthly interactive workshop for parents and preschoolers ages 3-5 on Thursday, January 18 at 6pm. The workshop will include activities, stories, and tips on how to get your preschooler Kindergarten ready. Preschool Academy will meet in the Children’s Program Room. Read To A Therapy Dog

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. offers children opportunities to read to Tucker the  therapy dog on Friday, January 19 from 4pm-4:45pm, and Wednesday, January 24 from 2:30-3:30pm. Children ages 6-12 may sign up for a fifteen minute time slot and can choose a favorite book to read to the dog. Time slots are on a first come first serve basis. Lighthouse Quilters

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. offers a monthly, intergenerational quilting program. The January date is Monday, January 22 at 4 pm for patrons ages 7 and up. Nutmeg Book Group

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. offers an online Nutmeg Book Group for readers in grades 4 to 6. January’s pick will be “Leonard (My Life As A Cat)”. Read the book, then join us for a book discussion on Monday, January 22 at 7pm on Zoom. Book provided to registered participants courtesy of the Carol Pieper Memorial Fund. Write Your Own Graphic Novel

The Stratford Library Children’s Dept. will offer a Write Your Own Graphic Novel workshop for children ages 8-13 on Tuesday, January 23 and 30, February 13 and 20 at 6pm. Tween Magnetic Tile Competition

Tweens grades 5-7 can join the Stratford Library Children’s Dept. for a magnetic tile competition on Wednesday, January 24 at 4pm. Try out your design and construction skills on several mini magnetic challenges and see who can come up with the craziest or coolest structure!
