FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Fiddle n' Fun: A Festive Fa La La La La

Sunday, December 4, 1PM

Registration is required and begins on November 18! This Festival of Lights come join us on Sunday December 4 for some family singing and dancing! Mr. Joel of Fiddle n' Fun has created a one of a kind holiday music experience! Children ages 3 and up (and their families) will enjoy a fun afternoon of singing, instruments, stories, and movement!

Ghost Gear: Lost Fishing Gear Removal Plan For Narragansett Bay
Tuesday, December 6 at 6:30 PM

Discarded, lost, or abandoned fishing gear (ghost gear) left in the marine environment can have ecological, safety, and economic consequences to the area. Rhode Island has an active commercial and recreational fishery. Fishermen report thousands of abandoned traps and piles of ghost gear near Rhode Island fishing ports and coastal waters. In partnership with commercial fishermen and other stakeholders, the Commercial Fisheries Research Foundation will be starting a ghost gear removal program in Narragansett Bay in January 2023. Please join us learn about the removal and recycle plan, and have your questions answered about the project activities in the Bay and the ports next year.

Youth Services Programs

ANIMAL RESCUE RHODE ISLAND SHELTER DONATIONS

Between November 15 and December 15, the Children’s Room will be collecting donations for the Animal Shelter Located in Peace Dale! To see the wish list, please go to https://www.animalrescueri.org/donate/wish-list-2. Help out dogs, cats, and other animals in need this season! For more info, please speak to a librarian or give us a call.

LITTLE RASCAL'S STORY TIME

Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend a weekly story and song program! This event takes place Thursdays at 10am from 10/20 through

12/1 (skipping Thanksgiving).

Careers with Animals: Middle School!

On Sat. Dec. 10 from 11-12, Animal Rescue RI welcomes 5th-8th graders to learn about careers they could pursue in the future. These include farming, veterinary medicine, zoo-keeping, animal training, and more! Discussion will include talk of continuing education programs or jobs that are available without college degrees. Registration is required and will begin Nov. 22nd!

Sensory Playtime!

On Tues. Dec. 13th from 4-5pm, children ages 0-10 are invited to play with some new sensory toys- such as Silishapes, Alphabet Bubbles, and Gear Building blocks! Sensory toys allow learning through free play and deeper engagement of the senses. Registration is required and begins 11/30.

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS

Want to learn something new?

Nathanial will be holding a Dungeons and Dragons club twice a month for ages 12-18.

Participants will create characters and be introduced to gameplay. Pizza and juice is

provided! Our final meeting is Wednesday December 14th from 4:30-6:30. Registration is required!

VHS TO DVD SERVICE IS BACK!!!
Are all your old home movies on VHS tapes that are hard to watch or share? Reserve our VHS to DVD converter to transfer your VHS tapes. There will be a staff member on hand to answer questions. Re-writeable DVDs cost $1 each. This is a time consuming process so bookings are in 2 hour increments. When you register, please leave phone number so staff can confirm your appointment. Once you are familiar with the procedure, it is possible to book the machine for other time-slots but there may not be a staff member available to answer questions outside the official appointments. Our machine is built for full size VHS tapes, though we do have an adapter for the VHS-s tapes; we cannot do 8 mm video tapes.
