Our year in review:

2022 was filled with growth and innovation. We brought on four new employees, seven new fiscally sponsored members, and hosted brand new professional development programs. We opened up our beautiful office space at 1446 Market Street with Drop-In Co-Working every Tuesday, which will continue into the new year. We also launched our first ever Artist-In-Residence program (more on that soon)! In 2023, we look forward to the new community spirit and creativity these programs will bring to our physical home base. We can't wait to share all the exciting news that's in the works for 2023. Dear Queer Dancer advances the success of LGBTQ+ dancers and challenges homophobia and gender norms in the dance industry! This organization was founded by Sarah Taborga, a community organizer, dancer, and filmmaker.

Beast Crawl Literary Festival

The Beast Crawl Literary Festival is Oakland's own entirely free annual literary festival that showcases the diversity and talent of writers with deep roots in the East Bay. ?

The Last Ice

The Last Ice is a project led by artist Brian Goggin. This project is building the world’s first carbon-neutral glacial ice reliquary sculpture. They will launch the first post-travel art expedition of its kind to collect and present a visual art exhibition highlighting basal ice relics from the world’s disappearing glaciers.

Still I Rise: Oakland

The mission of Still I Rise: Oakland is to merge the ancient, African, artistic structure of the Hip Hop cypher with the technology of a vodcast and EP series. They hope to spark courageous conversations that interrupt the Misogynoir in the community, amplify marginalized voices, and empower Oaklanders and Hip Hop culture for decades to come.

BlackGold Movement

BlackGold Movement was created with the mission to reverse the flow of resources from the West back to Africa along the transatlantic slave trade routes through Hip Hop, storytelling, & music of the African Diaspora.

School of the Getdown

The mission of School of the Getdown is to celebrate and promote Black music and to share these cultural traditions with diverse Bay Area communities through performance and educational programs, with particular attention towards youth and the Black community.

Anuj Vaidya Arts & Cultures

The mission of Anuj Vaidya Arts & Cultures is to examine questions of process and methods in relation to artistic practice, to bring attention to issues of environmental, racial, and disability justice, and to use arts and storytelling as vehicles to empower communities to embody transformational social change.
