11:30 am  Shoot Out at Malad City Park

For the last 30 years, Malad has enjoyed watching The Sheriff (Brian Jeppsen) and Black Bart (Jeff Richins) battle it out between good and evil. As the Sheriff tries to keep the Community safe, Black Bart always has something up his sleeve. He is always looking for a way to get ahead, and will sacrifice anyone or anything that gets in his way. Luckily, the Sheriff is always there to thwart his plans. Accompanied by various deputies, Sheriff ALWAYS triumphs over Bart and his cronies. In these fun and entertaining Old West Shootouts, there is singing, dancing, joking and yes, of course, lots of shooting that takes place. In the process of all this fun, they always take a moment to teach important safety rules. They don't want anyone trying this at home!

As Sheriff and Bart get older, they look for new blood to come into the picture.  This has been a fun Malad tradition for decades. People have grown to love and look forward to it each year.

After the kids races, adults have the chance to test their leap frog skills and team up to race for our traveling frog trophy.
