Governor Stitt Appoints Ken Levit to State Regents for Higher Ed

On April 26th, Governor Kevin Stitt announced his appointment of philanthropy executive, businessman, and lawyer Ken Levit to the State Regents for Higher Education.

“Ken has dedicated his career to uplifting Oklahoma communities in countless ways, and he’s passionate about making a difference,” said Governor Stitt. “Ken is an excellent choice to serve as a State Regent, and I look forward to seeing him deliver for students and Oklahoma’s higher ed community.”

Levit began his career at Tulsa-based law firm Crowe and Dunlevy working in general litigation. He served as an advisor to the director of the Central Intelligence Agency between 1998 to 2000 before becoming an executive at Williams Communications. Between 2001 to 2006, Levit served as the President of the University of Oklahoma – Tulsa. Ken Levit has served as the Executive Director of the George Kaiser Family Foundation since 2006.

Looking ahead, I’m filled with optimism for the future of higher education and committed to helping Oklahoma remain and grow as a hub for innovation and excellence,” said Levit. “I’m grateful to Governor Stitt for entrusting me with this important responsibility.”

Levit’s leadership experience extends to numerous boards and commissions, including the Oklahoma State University Medical Authority, the EDGE (Economic Development Generating Excellence) Board, the Higher Ed Research Fundand the Tulsa River Parks Authority. Ken's commitment to civic engagement is further reflected in his service through the Tulsa Regional Chamber Board of Directors, American Song Archives, and Arts Alliance Tulsa, among others.

Levit gained a bachelor’s degree from Brown University in 1987 before earning his law degree from Yale Law School in 1994.
