From: Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers

MADISON — Governor Tony Evers on March 3rd, announced seven appointments to the Genetic Counselors Affiliated Credentialing Board. The board was recently established under 2021 Wisconsin Act 251, a bipartisan act signed by Gov. Evers last year related to the regulation and licensure of genetic counselors, including the creation of the seven-member Genetic Counselors Affiliated Credentialing Board.

“Genetic counselors across our state have been providing high-quality care to patients for years but have lacked the assurances and accountability that state licensure provides,” said Gov. Evers. “This new licensing board will ensure high-quality patient care continues while helping patients identify qualified providers when they need them.”

The Genetic Counselors Affiliated Credentialing Board regulates genetic counselor licensing and consists of four licensed genetic counselors, two physicians who are licensed in both medicine and surgery, and one public member, each appointed to staggered four-year terms. Members of the Genetic Counselors Affiliated Credentialing Board include:

  • Jennifer Geurts of New Berlin, genetic counselor – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2024
  • Jessica Grzybowski of Muskego, genetic counselor – Appointed for a term ending July 1, 2025
