From: Fairfield University

You make the difference.

Our 2021-22 season was as robust as ever, moving from virtual programs in the fall season to an exciting line-up of live events back in the theatre this spring. Thousands of patrons came back through our doors for a spring season that was moving, entertaining, and reminded us all of the power of live performances and the community we build through engaging speakers and dialogue.

The Quick Center is deeply grateful to the generous Quick Members, donors, corporations, foundations, and government agencies for your generous support of this season’s artistic and arts education programs. On average, ticket sales account for 30% of our overall revenue, and we turn to contributed income to enhance our revenue portfolio and help drive annual sustainability. Thank you to all who made our 2021-22 season possible!

Acrobuffos: Artist-in-Residence

The Quick is dedicated to supporting artists in the creative process. Now more than ever, artists are in great need for space and support to do what they love and create new work for touring. We are excited to welcome acclaimed circus company, Acrobuffos, to be a Quick Artist-in-Residence from June 29 – July 8, 2022. Acrobuffos has toured the world with their previous piece, Air Play and now they are in the process of creating P L A S T I C: A Clown Opera.

Seth Bloom and Christina Gelsone met at a circus in Afghanistan, became engaged while street performing in Scotland, married in China, and occasionally go home to New York City. The New York Times noted they are “…hardly your average clowns.”

Since 2005, they have created seven shows together, competed in international circus festivals, performed in over 25 countries, headlined at the Big Apple Circus, and were featured on a postage stamp. Christina is a former ballerina who graduated from Princeton to become a clown; Seth is a former juggler who graduated from three clown schools, including an MFA in physical theater.

Save the date: The Quick will present a work-in-progress showing of P L A S T I C: A Clown Opera on Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. Following the production the artists will offer time to chat about the work and their creative process.
