Coolest Outing of the Season

It’s hard to believe that ice skating in El Dorado has become a standard tradition, but for the past three years the Murphy Arts District has made it a reality. We can once again look forward to skating on real ice November 19, 2022, through January 2, 2023. Located on the stage of the outdoor amphitheater, MAD on Ice is the perfect spot to create holiday memories with loved ones.

“Thanks to Murphy USA and the El Dorado A&P Commission we can continue this annual tradition,” says Joanna Benson, MAD marketing coordinator. “MAD on Ice is something everyone from El Dorado can be proud of. Not many people from the south can say they have a skating rink in their town, especially one with real ice. It’s a cool reason for people to visit El Dorado this holiday season.”

Visit the MAD website for operating hours and to fill out the online waiver.

The Magic of Christmas
The Murphy Arts District kicks off the holiday season in spectacular style with a spellbinding presentation of A Magical Cirque Christmas, a comedic, musical, magic-filled holiday experience.

World-acclaimed performers and cirque artists will take audience members of all ages back in time, immersing them in the spirit of the season and performing Christmas classics through the decades. The top-tier talent lineup includes Lyra hoop aerial acrobats, a high-flying foot juggling duo, a breathtaking aerial straps pair, a contortion flying streetlamp act, and much more.

These feats of illusion will take the stage Friday, November 18, at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $39 and can be purchased on the Murphy Arts District website.

Holiday Lights Extravaganza
Mark your calendars for the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources Holiday Lights Extravaganza! Each year during the holidays, Oil Field Park comes to life with sparkling vignettes and holiday music on Friday and Saturday nights. The show includes Gingerbread Land, a 62-foot animated, color-changing tree, and Santa’s Rock Band featuring Santa on guitar, Eddie the Elf on drums, and Rudolph crooning holiday songs. Stop by the museum gift shop and warm up with a cup of free hot cocoa and browse the gift shop for last-minute unique gift ideas.

The Holiday Lights Extravaganza runs each Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. starting November 18 and ending on December 17. The price is $10 and includes an easy walking tour that is wheelchair accessible.
